Born in Jesup, Georgia, U.S.A. in 1953, Bill Zorn’s life has revolved around art; the visual arts, music, and the art of medicine. Trained as a physician at Tulane School of Medicine, Zorn left school at age 15 to play rock and roll in nightclubs. He had a detour from music first leading to degrees in chemistry and medicine, and practiced emergency medicine. In 1993 he left medicine to pursue fine art photography, and has been published and exhibited worldwide. His interest and study of music has been the constant of his life. Since moving to Beijing last year, he has been writing, performing and recording music for acoustic and electric guitar. He recently recorded and performed with Duo Wei, and is working with other Chinese musicians on traditional instruments.
Bill plays beautiful acoustic guitar with a masterful guitar-picking style reminiscent of Tommy Emmanuel.

With a Brazillian power-house on Guitar and vocals, an extraordinary Cuban guitarist, a well-known and respected Chinese drummer, and a groove-centred Bass player from the island Dominica, “Mama Funker” play Brazilian funk, Latin and English tunes, with a bit of Reggae, pop-rock thrown in for good measure.
Mama Funker…. the name chosen by the guitarist and singer of the band was at first rejected by the other band members. However, it soon became the name on so many lips, who would laugh at first, and then grow to love since it so perfectly embodied the band Mama Funker!!! In the words of one anonymous individual, Mama Funker “breaks down the place” and leave the crowd wanting more every time they perform. From time to time the band are joined by the undeniably soulful energetic and “crowd wooing” female vocalist by the name of Marrion Musgrove.
